Richard Heinie, owner of Heinie Specialty Products in Quincy, Illinois, has been custom building extraordinarily high quality 1911 pistols since 1973 and pistol sights since 1979. Richard brings years of experience in machining, tool design, tool making, and product design, to his craft and today, Heinie Specialty Products manufactures precision sights as well as other high quality products. An active competitor in IPSC, IDPA, and 1911 matches, he is also a consultant to law enforcement agencies.

The first Heinie Sight was designed by Richard Heinie in the late 1970's. This first Heinie Sight replaced the adjustable sight used by many IPSC competitors. This sight became available to the general public in 1981.

Sight demands have increased over the years and Heinie has kept pace by expanding his product line so more people can use high quality, precision sights.

The most recent additions and design ideas available to our customers are the SlantPro and the Straight Eight design. In our mission to continue meeting the needs of our customers, the SlantPro design is unique in that it is very snag resistant, yet allows for one-handed clearance drills. The Straight Eight is the design of Heinie's night sight system which makes a more efficient, easier to use night sight; based on actual test of what the human eye can recognize the fastest.

Heinie sights are currently being used by military units, law-enforcement, as well as, civilians who want the very best sights available.

Richard Heinie has also turned his knowledge and experience to design leather products. Heinie teamed up with Alessi Holsters, Inc. and now offers leather products that are based on the actual feedback from many users including: SWAT, FBI, DEA, and Anti-Terrorist Units.
